The Federal Way Day Center
is scheduled to open in the spring of 2016. The Day Center will provide a welcoming space to adults who are living on
the streets of Federal Way. Once opened, the Day Center will offer showers, laundry, space for meal preparation, and
access to health care and social services.
The goals of the Day Center include:
- To provide
social and emotional connection.
- To meet
basic human needs of cleanliness.
- To connect
people to resources that will enable them to meet their full potential.
The Federal Way Day Center grew from the grassroots organizing efforts of concerned
neighbors in Federal Way. They saw that many members of their community
had inadequate access to showers, laundry facilities and resources need to get
off the streets. Members of St. Vincent de Paul Church and Sound Alliance
built partnerships with the City of Federal Way, the Federal
Way Community Caregiving Network, Catholic Community Services, Valley
Cities Counseling, King County Multi-Service Center, City Vision, Saltwater
Unitarian Church, the Church of the Good Shepard, Steel Lake Presbyterian,
Calvary Lutheran, Our Savior Baptist Church, Grace Lutheran, St. Theresa's
Catholic Church, and many other local organizations.
