Nativity House Fundraising Auction Huge Success!

Nativity House held its 20th annual Fundraising Auction, Celebrating Hope. Nativity House, a program of the CCS Tahoma Family Center, is a daytime shelter and community center for people experiencing homelessness. Nativity House offers a refuge from the dangers of the streets to all who come to their doors. Whether guests need a meal, clothing, toiletries, referrals to social services—or just a smile—the staff at Nativity House are there to provide it. This year’s event was a huge success. The auction, Celebrating Hope, raised over $150,000 for the continued operation of Nativity House because of the generosity of caring guests, sponsors, donors and volunteers.

Celebrating Hope was held Saturday, February 25, at the Landmark Convention Center in Tacoma. In addition to the LIVE auction there were three silent auction sections and a silent jewelry auction. Tickets were sold throughout the evening for a chance to win a trip to Hawaii and an opportunity to be the ‘Best of LIVE’ winner who got to select their favorite LIVE auction item from 27 choices.

More than 175 guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks before sitting down to dinner. Kicking off LIVE was the Dessert Dash, letting guests bid as much as they wanted to get their tables’ choice of 20 fabulous donated desserts. The LIVE auction was then underway and included unique experiences such as an “Exotic Ethiopian Dinner for Eight,” a “Port Wine & Dark Chocolate Party,” and a variety of trips, sporting events, and wines.

Nativity House Fund-A-Need was overwhelmingly blessed this year with a passionate donor family, Angela and Jack Connelly, who expressed their compassion for the people served by Nativity House, by offering a $40,000 challenge match. Angela grew up volunteering at Nativity House with her mother, and she warmly shared her stories with the other guests. The room wholeheartedly responded, and Nativity House’s Fund-A-Need record was surpassed.
